Google is aiming to release the final version of Android 7.1.2 Nougat this week and it looks like some smartphones over at Sony will be getting that privilege. The word out is Sony Xperia X owners which are part of the Concept of Android Program by Sony will get to see the new features of the upcoming operating system.
While that should be good news, Sony Xperia X owners are wary of certain problems that have recently come out in the open. These problems are tied up to the erratic behavior shown by Nexus and Pixel smartphone units since applying the Android 7.1.2 Nougat update. Hopefully, the firmware upgrade does not return the same problems once it does roll out, Android Headlines reported.
Other than those Android 7.2.1 Nougat performance issues, Sony Xperia X Concept owners would want to experience the new features that come with it. The list of improved features includes better Bluetooth connectivity and new battery alerts. Better swipe interface should have been included but it seems that such this is not included in the build.
As previous versions, minor bug fixes are also expected to come along with the latest Android patch update, GSM Arena reported. Worth noting is that there a drawback. This has to do with the setup wizard when initially executed after powering up the phone will only work via WiFi connection.
Seeing how only select individuals have the Sony Xperia X Concept, the move should direct when Android 7.1.2 Nougat would be safe for implementation on most Sony phones. For those unfamiliar with the program, the Concept for Android program by Sony allows users to get quick updates in exchange for trying out new software.
Interested folks who want to join the program can do so via the Play Store. The bad news is that it is limited to the European single SIM Model, the Sony Xperia X F5121.
