AMD Ryzen 5 1600: Review Leak On The Powerful Ryzen 5 CPU vs. Intel Core i7-7700K

Apr 06, 2017 09:43 AM EDT

The official launch of AMD Ryzen 5 CPU is on April 11. However, with just a few days away from its debut launch, a full review of the Ryzen 5 1600 has been already posted on a Spanish review site named ElchapuzasInformatico. This conveyed numerous performance aspects of the forthcoming processor. The review leaked all over the tech news site and hundred enthusiasts of the AMD Zen masterpiece can't wait to dissect this review from top to bottom.

The AMD Ryzen 5 CPUs will come in multi-threaded six-core chip in the form of Ryzen 5 1600X. According to Forbes, AMD has been always a tough contender with regard to multi-threaded applications. It has been better than the pricier Intel Core i7-7700K. The latter has a higher clock speed but only has 4-core, 8-thread CPU; in contrast to Ryzen 5 1600's 6-core and 12 threads. This Intel CPU comes at an estimated cost of US$350, while the AMD's will retail at only US$219. Report states that the x264 benchmark and Cinebench R15 rendering test show how impressive the processing unit is even on its video encoding performance which makes the AMD CPU slightly ahead of the Core i7.

As per WCCF Tech, reports suggest that AMD Ryzen 5 1600 seems to be faster than the Core i7 7700K in multi-threaded tests, but slightly fell short in terms of gaming performance. The AMD's mainstream chip features clock speeds of 3.2 GHz base and 3.6 GHz boost with TDP maintained at 95W. In addition to this, the single core performance test, where benchmarking usually starts, show lower performance than the Core i5 and i7. In multi-threaded tests like WPrime 32M benchmark, Cinebench R15 and CPU-Z tests, the results show how the forthcoming chip has impressively out-performed Intel Core i7-7700K.

There are also drawbacks on this impending chip, but still the results remain impressive, according to Digital Trends. At a lower price tag than Intel's, Ryzen 5 1600 is far from a top-of-the-line product and an exceptional midrange CPU which can also be just about everything. It is reported to be one of the most attractive Ryzen chips manufactured by AMD to watch out for.
