Android 7.1.2 Update With April 2017 Security Patch Is Now Live For Pixel & Nexus Devices

Google's latest update including the April 2017 Android security patches for Pixel and Nexus devices for both Android 7.1.1 and Android 7.1.2 Nougat is now live. Not only factory images and OTA zips for the April Security update, Google is rolling out a separate Android 7.1.2 Nougat builds also, with the new security patches, into the mix.

The Android 7.1.2 update has gone through two beta iterations before reaching this point, and the final version brings a number of improvements to the compatible device. The update includes bug fixes and speed optimizations, as well as enhancements for carrier-specific features.

In the whole update for a security update, the partial security patch level up to 1st April contains patches for, 1 vulnerability marked critical, 6 marked high, and 5 marked as moderate harshness. The full security patch level up to 5th April contains all of those patches and also patches for 8 critical, 26 high and 14 moderate harshness vulnerabilities. The security patches for supported smartphones can be found on both Android 7.1.1 and the newly launched Android 7.1.2 build, so users who are manually flashing have a choice to download and install the latest update. However in case, you find anything against your liking, you can anytime switch to a previous version without losing out on the security update.

Meanwhile, Android 7.1.2 update addresses a number of issues for the Pixel and Pixel XL. There are problems and bugs which are fixed through latest update such as improved fingerprint swipe performance, early battery shutdown, Bluetooth connectivity improvements, pink banding on camera and Audio popping issue at high volumes, according to 9to5 Google.

Android 7.1.2 update Build is available for the Pixel and XL, the Pixel C, Nexus 5X, Nexus 6P and Nexus Player. The update builds ranges from versions N2G47E and N2G47J on the Pixel smartphones to N2G47D on the Pixel C, N2G47F on the Nexus 5X and N2G47H on the Nexus 6P and Nexus Player, as per Android Central. Moreover, the Nexus 6 gets an option of an older build as the April security patch is included on Android 7.0.0 also in the form of NBD92G and NBD92F builds.

Android 7.1.2 update with April 2017 security patch will be made available via OTA to all users slowly but surely. However in case, you cannot wait, you can download manually the OTA or the factory image. You just have to make sure that you download the correct build and for the correct device.
