The Future of HTML5

Nov 17, 2013 05:40 PM EST

The future of HTML5 is looking bright. A native app can save more costs and become less time consuming for organizations. The vendor outlook for HTML 5 also is positive. With more apps and tablet adoption it could well become a full standard. There are still regulatory issues and concerns with bigger companies such as Google OS.

The new web standard for HMTL5 allows any OS to run through a web browser. With the releases of Mozilla Firefox and Tizen, HTML5 will become even more promising. Budget smartphones are ideal for HMTL5 to run on and are more cost effective for developers to build. Developers can also save costs on having to run an actual app store.

HTML5 connectivity opportunities are endless. It allows for users to communicate through more innovative channels. The offline storage allows for more efficiency. 2D and 3D Graphics allow for more presentation options. Firefox supports HTML5 offline storage as well. WebRTC or Web Real-Time Communication, lets users connect to others without a plugin or external app. Users can connect directly to videoconferencing.

Why HTML5? For organizations that have consumers who only use services periodically, HTML5 is an ideal platform for mobile. The platform also works for those businesses which require only one main source for content. An HTML5 platform should also match customer demographics.

Amazon is also integrating Web applications to its Android Appstore. Developers of Kindle Fire tablet and specific Android devices could publish HTML5 to its app store. Amazon’s web apps go through Google's open source Chromium engine. The HTML5 runtime can support hardware components but does not support WebGL or the Fullscreen API in HTML5. Developers can download and begin developing of HTML5 apps for its Android Appstore by visiting Amazon’s developer site and then downloading the HTML5 software developer kit.

Native apps naturally developed for a single mobile OS such as Google Android.  These type of apps are accessible from any smartphone or tablet device. Many organizations and consumers to date still prefer HTML5. Much like mobile developers, revenues generated and mobile usage are what make them attractive.
