Apple has recently announced new features for watchOS 4. It includes major updates coming to Workouts, Activity, all-new watch faces, and GymKit, providing a seamless connection between Apple Watch and gym equipment.
According to The Verge, watchOS 4's new activity upgrades will offer intelligent coaching and tailored encouragement to each user. Apple Watch will notify users every morning when they're close to earning an Achievement. The device will also give suggestions on how to improve to match the previous day's activity levels. Activity will also be able to notify users exactly how long they should walk to close their Activity Rings, and new unique Monthly Challenges will; be designed directly for each user's goals.
Apple has also an updated Workout app to include auto-sets for pool swim workouts, as well as new motion and heart rate algorithms for High-Intensity Training workouts. The company claims that users doing back-to-back workouts will be able to combine multiple workouts into one linked-together data set, capturing overall time measurements and calorie.
Apple's watchOS 4 GymKit will be able to use certain cardio equipment at Gyms to pair their Apple Watch directly to treadmills, indoor bikes, ellipticals, and stair steppers from brands like Life Fitness and Technogym. With just a simple tap, the Apple Watch will speak with the equipment and vice versa; including data on calories, speed, distance, floors climbed, pace and incline.
According to Apple Newsroom, a new Siri watch face will bring up information and will dynamically update based on time of day, showcase pertinent, and routines. This will show data from apps such as Breathe, Calendar, Maps, Wallet, Apple News, Reminders, Alarms, and Activity. Also, a redesigned Music app on Apple Watch will automatically sync to My New Music Mix, My Favorites Mix which gives users a better music-listening experience with watchSO 4.
On the other hand, watchOS 4 will bring along Toy Story watch faces and support for person-to-person payments in Apple Pay. Stay tuned for more updates.
