Qualcomm has recently announced its latest addition as one of the top features on premium smartphones has been fast charging support. The Quick Charge 4+ charging protocol promises improvements over Quick Charge 4.0 which was announced last November alongside the Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor.
Qualcomm also confirmed that the first device that will feature Quick Charge 4+ is the Nubia smartphones. The chipset maker has been constantly improving its Quick Charge tech for smartphones, claiming the latest version brings three major enhancements over the last one. Qualcomm also confirms that the all-new Quick Charge 4+ will include all the features of Quick Charge 4.0, and also adds three Improvements.
According to Gizbot, Quick Charge 4+ brings Dual Charge which is a feature already available in earlier versions along with some upgrades as it will include a second power management IC in the device. By this, consumers must expect a lower thermal dissipation and reduced charging time. The second feature is the Intelligent Thermal Balancing which has been developed to eliminate hotspots for optimized power delivery. Lastly, Quick Charge 4+ was made to monitor both the connector temperature and case levels simultaneously. With this, the new Quick Charge version will help against overheating and short circuit or any damage to the Type-C connector.
In addition to these changes, the new Quick Charge 4+ has the ability to charge up to 15 percent faster or even 30 percent more efficient compared to the Quick Charge 4.0, according to Phone World. Qualcomm also adds the accessories such as car chargers, wall adapters, USB hubs, and portable battery banks that can qualify for Quick Charge 4+. These accessories will also support backward compatibility with Quick Charge 3.0 and Quick Charge 2.0.
Meanwhile, Qualcomm confirms that Nubia Z17 will be the first device to feature the new Quick Charge 4+. This smartphone packs a Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor; 8GB RAM, and up to 128GB storage. Stay tuned for more updates.
