Trailer On European Steam Page Hints Of Aug. 15 Launch Date For ‘Sonic Mania’

A trailer on the European Steam page of “Sonic Mania” may have inevitably hinted that the game would release on Aug. 15. But officially, the trailer on the game’s American Steam page says the game would roll out in summer 2017. The game’s original release date was in spring, but Sega moved it to March due to delays.

According to PCGamer, “Sonic Mania” is under development by independent developers, according to Lola Shiraishi, the producer. However, even if it is handled by independent studios, it is expected to be a worthy sequel to the original game.

Gamezone says the speculated Aug. 15 release date for “Sonic Mania” makes sense because it would give the developer sufficient time to polish the game. Nibel screen capped the Aug. 15 leaked release date and tweeted the image. According to rumors, the upcoming game will have animated cutscenes. It will release on PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch. PV Gamer observes that “Sonic Mania” is a completely new game in every way from its art assets, to songs and all the programmed machinery beneath the game.

US Gamer notes that “Sonic Mania” was announced at the 25th Anniversary Sonic Event in July 2016. Its comeback is highly anticipated by gamers because it marks the return to the classic era of Sonic games characterized by sprites, 2D side-scrolling, and colorful levels. It will feature new stages and remixed versions of classic Sonic levels. Besides the trailer on its European Steam page, Sega also released a new trailer that showed Mania taking on the Flying Battery Zone from Sonic & Knuckles.

Aside from “Sonic Mania,” another shiny 3D Sonic game with character customization will also release in the year-end holiday season. It is “Sonic Forces” which will release for PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, and PC. It is similar to “Sonic Generations” with modern, 3D Sonic gameplay, and classic style side-scrolling stages, GameSpot reports.
