Garmin VIRB 360: Price, Specs And Wonderful Features For Perfect Photography

Garmin has introduced a versatile Garmin VIRB 360 camera at $799.99 with wonderful features. It is the first 360-degree action waterproof dual lens camera which is compact and rugged capable of recording to 360 video up to a 5.7K resolution at 30fps. Garmin's new camera is the real competitor to the action cameras from GoPro.

According to Garmin, the VIRB 360 camera uses 2x12mp BSI f/2.0 cameras, four built-in microphones to capture 360-degree audio and 4K spherical stabilization that ensures a smooth video regardless of camera movement. The spherical stabilization has stabilize, lock and follow modes, while the video modes included in the camera are video and time lapse. It can record up to 120Mbps 5.7K raw video.

The Garmin VIRB 360 is capable of recording videos in 4K resolution at 30 frames per second. The other videos captured at 5.7K or 5K at 30 frames per second or 3K at 60 frames per second will be unstitched and have to be edited manually by the user.

The Garmin VIRB 360 also has built-in sensors that provide G-Metrix data which overlays in 360-degree augmented reality and it is waterproof camera up to 10m. With this, one can shoot 15-megapixel spherical photos with a single shot, burst shooting, exposure bracketing, time lapse, and travel lapse modes. The camera includes an accelerometer, barometer, gyroscope, GPS/GLONASS, and compass. It uses replaceable microSD memory6 cards of up to 128GB.

The Garmin VIRB 360 has connectivity options such as Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, near field communication (one-tap connection with Android) and ANT+. The camera is also compatible with smartphone and can live stream on Facebook and YouTube when it is wirelessly connected to a compatible iPhone or iPad. Other features such as the remote control, voice control, one button control, real time 360 viewing, replaceable glass cover lens, sunlight readable display, standard tripod and action mount are also included.

According to ephotozine, the Garmin vice president of global consumer sales stated that this camera lets the user relive personal experiences and share them with friends - from a different point of view, every single time. The user of this Garmin VIRB 360 camera will no longer require worrying about trying to capture the perfect angle or setting up the perfect shot. The company has included an easy-to-use feature that reportedly makes even the most inexperienced users behave like experts.

The company has set a price tag of $799.99 for its new Garmin VIRB 360 camera and it is expected to be available in June. The camera is available to purchase through Amazon and B&H Photo as a pre-order.
