May 25, 2017 03:55 AM EDT

OnePlus 5 is turning out to be a very puzzling flagship smartphone. There are already numerous rumors have been seen for the upcoming device, and now OnePlus CEO Pete Lau himself confirmed that OnePlus 5 will boast Qualcomm Snapdragon 835.

The OnePlus 5 will be having a Snapdragon 835 SoC, matching the top-end power offered by just about every other smartphone launched in 2017. OnePlus CEO Pete Lau confirmed with the post on the OnePlus Forums regarding OnePlus 5's processor choice, and goes further in depth on performance aspirations for the OnePlus 5, as reported Android Central.

CEO Pete further revealed that they are working hard to improve the overall experience of users on the OnePlus 5. He also confirmed two things on which the company worked, and have attained success: quick app load times, and faster touch response.

The Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 SoC is the first 10nm mobile processor specially designed to support next generation entertainment experiences and connected cloud services that OnePlus phones are known to offer. The Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 means more feature integration, smaller size and lower power consumption with better battery life.

According to GSM Arena, the CEO Pete Lau made a post on the OnePlus Forums saying, "We're proud to announce the OnePlus 5 will feature the Snapdragon 835 processor." Separately, Qualcomm on its official Twitter also said that, "OnePlus 5 is coming soon and we couldn't be more excited that it's powered by Snapdragon 835." Alongside tweet, an image of Qualcomm's logo with the OnePlus logo has also been shared by Qualcomm.

These are the types of performance levels that can be expected all smartphone makers to be working on, but it's great to see OnePlus is pointing out publicly that it's focusing on them. By setting standards for itself before the time, the OnePlus 5 can be held to a higher standard as well.
