Samsung Gear S3 Frontier rugged smartwatch is already being sold by the South Korean tech giant. Now, the company has added the sibling-Samsung Gear S3 Classic with 4G LTE-connectivity. This particular smartwatch has now been confirmed to be available for purchase on Friday i.e. May 26, 2017.
According to Android Headlines, Samsung initially offered optional 4G LTE connectivity on the Gear S3 Frontier variant. The variant carried more rugged appearance with larger side buttons and a replaceable rubber strap.
The Samsung Gear S3 Classic variant was initially available with Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity in a stainless steel finish and a leather band. It is reported that Samsung announced the 4G LTE connected Gear S3 Classic smartwatch in March giving enthusiasts a great piece of aesthetics with all features as that of its sibling.
According to Android Authority, the Samsung Gear S3 Classic has similar hardware and features as that of the Gear S3 Frontier. It is reported that the Classic variant has small metal buttons when compared to the larger ones in Frontier. The Gear S3 Classic reportedly weighs 57 grams, while the Frontier weighs 62 grams.
The Samsung Gear S3 Classic sports a 1.3-inch Super AMOLED circular display. It is powered by powered by dual-core 1.0 GHz Exynos 7270 processor coupled with 768MB of RAM and 4GB of on-board storage. It runs on Tizen-based wearable platform 2.3.2 operating system and has compatibility with Android and iOS phones through an app. This IP68 rated smartwatch is capable of handling Samsung Pay payments.
It is reported that AT&T is offering the Samsung Gear S3 Classic with 4G LTE support together with the carrier's NumberSync feature. This feature will allow the user to use main AT&T smartphone number to make and receive calls and texts through the watch.
The Samsung Gear S3 Classic with 4G LTE will be available at AT&T starting May 26. It is reported that the smartwatch will be available online as well as the retail at $249.99. The watch is also available for the two-year contract at $17.50 per month. AT&T announces that if the AT&T based Samsung Galaxy S8 or S8 Plus smartphone is purchased before June 30, then the Gear S3 Classic or Gear S3 Frontier will have a price tag of $49.99.
