The long-anticipated "Magia Record" app could remain out of reach for a while more. The upcoming smartphone app by "Madoka Magica" brings a new chapter of the story of the magical girls to life. The official website for "Magia Record: Maho Shojo Madoka Magica Gaiden" just announced that the game's release will be moved to the middle of July.
This, however, should not be taken as bad news. The developers said that the reason behind the delay is that they want to improve the overall quality of the game. The RPG was originally planned to be released for Android and iOS in May.
Crunchy Roll reported that "Magia Record" will feature mixed novel-style scenes and animation as well as a card-collecting format. The game will also introduce an all-star cast, particularly Iruka, a young girl who has been in a search for her sister in the very same town where Madoka has been searching for Homura.
The upcoming game's first promotional video started streaming last February, notes Anime News Network. The website also revealed a key story and visual information for the game last December.
"Magia Record" will feature a story that will take place in the burgeoning city of Kamihama. The magical girls will be guided by a queer power in this town. They will then get into battles from a new power that they have drawn from witches. Iroha Tamaki will arrive and join the girls as they embark on a search for their younger sister Ui. When Homura Akemi arrives, he will contribute to the search.
This new character, Iroha Tamaki, who is voiced by Momo Asakura, will become a magical girl, too. She will have a wish to save her sister from a strange and gripping illness. Madoka Maname, voiced by Aoi Yuki, will also arrive in Kamihama in search for her friend who has been gone for quite some time, Homura.
"Magia Record" includes original work by Magica Quartet, original witch design by Gekidan Inu Curry, and original character design by Ume Aoki. It will also have its opening animation by SHAFT and development by f4samurai. The game will be free to play, but there will be in-app purchase for premium items and levels. Players who pre-register will receive a "Magical Girl Homura Akemi" for use in the game.
