Microsoft Surface Laptop vs Apple MacBook Pro 13-inch: Specs Battle

Microsoft's new laptop launched recently has to take up the rivals available in the tech market. The device though launched with the bundle of amazing specifications and features, but it has to enter into the battle with the other incredible laptops. Apple, the Cupertino tech giant known for its amazing tech devices launched its MacBook Pro last year.

A direct comparison is indeed necessary to check which device is superior over other. The Microsoft Surface laptop takes up with the Apple MacBook Pro 13-inch in terms of specifications and features.

Display: According to Microsoft, the Surface laptop features a 13.5-inch Pixel Sense display with a resolution of 2,256 x 1,504 pixels having a pixel density of 201ppi. The Apple MacBook Pro sports a 13.3-inch LED-backlit display with IPS technology. The display has the resolution of 2,560 x 1,600 with a pixel density of 227ppi.

Dimensions and Weight: The Microsoft Surface laptop has a measurement of 308.1 mm x 223.27 mm x 14.48 mm, and weighs 1.252 kilograms. On the other hand, the Apple MacBook Pro has a measurement of 304 mm x 212 mm x 14.9 mm, and weighs 1.37 kilograms.

Processor, RAM, Storage: The Microsoft Surface laptop is powered by an Intel Core i5 or Core i7 processor coupled with either 4GB or 8GB or 16GB of RAM. An Intel HD Graphics 620 or Iris Plus Graphics 640 sits along with either 128GB or 256GB or 512GB of storage.

According to Apple, the MacBook Pro is powered by an Intel Core i5 clocked at 3.1GHz for the non-touch bar variant and the touch bar variant is powered by the same processor clocked at 3.3GHz. The processor is coupled with Intel Iris Graphics 540/ 550 and 8GB of RAM. The device comes with 256GB, 512GB and 1TB storage options.

Other features: The Microsoft Surface laptop runs on Windows 10 S and comes with touch screen. The laptop also features a Windows Hello face sign-in camera, 720p HD front camera, Pen support, 802.11ac Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0 LE, a USB 3.0 port, headphone jack, Mini Display Port, and Surface Connect port.

The Apple MacBook Pro runs on MacOS Sierra and features a touch bar. It also features a 720p FaceTime HD camera, two thunderbolt 3 /USB-C ports in non-touch bar variant and four thunderbolt 3 (USB-C) ports in touch bar variant, 802.11ac Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.2, and headphone jack.

Price: The Microsoft Surface laptop comes in four variants in which the base variant has a price tag of $999, while the higher variants have price tags of $1,299, $1,599 and $2,199. The entry level MacBook Pro start at $2,024 without touch bar, while the variant having touch bar models will set you back at least $2,695. It shall be noted that the pricing of the devices may vary in different tech markets around the globe.
