Asus has enabled pre-order of its Zenfone 3 Zoom capped at $329 in the US market. This ends a five-month speculation, which arose when Asus stalled the launch to upgrade the specifications. It will now be available on the B&H's website.
Asus has prioritized camera based Smartphone series in recent times. The launch of Asus ZenFone 3 Zoom is their latest flagship model in this category. The specifications do not seem to boast of anything stupendous, except a tremendous battery backup of 5000 mAh, as mentioned in GSM Arena. The device will house 32GB internal space and will run on 3GB RAM.
Asus ZenFone 3 Zoom will boast a display of 5.5" with 1080p resolution. The phone is said to weigh 170g, which is lighter compared to other Smartphone having the same display size. The device will be available in three colors; rose gold, steel gray, and black. The device will be powered by Snapdragon 835 as mentioned in Asus Official website.
The major drawback seems to be the OS, as the device will be running on Android Marshmallow 6.0.1. In the wake of Nougat and higher updates, it will be challenging for Asus ZenFone 3 Zoom to remain competitive with a backdated OS. The GPU has not been revealed yet, but Adreno 503 seems to be a feasible option.
The lynchpin of Asus ZenFone 3 Zoom is its rear dual camera. It will sport two 12MP snappers incorporating IMX362 Sony sensor. The front shooter will boast of a 13MP camera. 2.3X magnification is featured that will help to shoot close-up subjects with blurred backgrounds.
B&H has not yet revealed the shipping period or when the pre-order facility will end. It is among the required features to star in the mid-range market. Asus will be keen to see how the ZenFone 3 series fares, and will bank heavily on the Zenfone 3 Zoom.
