Professional Car Racer Tries The McLaren P1 LM Supercar

McLaren P1 LM made a quite impression at the Goodwood Festival of Speed last year when driver Kenny Brack used it to set a record for road-legal cars on the English estate's famous hill climb course. The racer Kenny Brack ran the 1.16-mile course in just 47.07 seconds using McLaren P1 LM.

According to Motor1, the challenges of the Goodwood hill climb compared to normal racetracks are apparent. Kenny Brack, who has an Indy 500 win on his resume dances with the wheel to keep the McLaren P1 LM pointed in the right direction.

The best compliment goes to the McLaren P1 LM, it has a fairly complex genealogy. It's a road-legal conversion of the McLaren P1 GTR, done by a company called Lanzante. McLaren P1 GTR was a track-only version of a road-going supercar. It's kind of confusing, well, let me enlightened you.

This means that the McLaren P1 LM is equipped with the same upgrades as the McLaren P1 GTR, which includes more aggressive aerodynamics package and more power. The hybrid powertrain was based around a 3.8-lite, twin-turbocharged V8 that produces 986 horsepower instead of the 903 horsepower of the base McLaren P1 model. However, Lanzante had to retune the engine so it would run on 99-octane pump gas.

According to Car Scoops, Lanzante made and ran the McLaren F1 GTR that won the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1995, which continues to maintain a close relationship with the automaker. The McLaren P1 LM was actually named after the McLaren F1 LM; a limited edition model of the McLaren F1 based on the Le Mans-winning racer.

In addition to the excellent performance of McLaren P1 LM Goodwood Festival of Speed, the test driver Kenny Brack will also set up each P1 LM customer car at the Nurburgring. There won't be any of those models that will be available in the market, as Lazante only plans to five conversions, including the prototype used for the Goodwood run.
