DrnkPay App Stops Users From Impulsive Buying Using The Debit Card

May 11, 2017 05:47 PM EDT

A new mobile payment has arrived that promises users to stop users from overspending, especially when the user is under the influence of alcohol. The latest app has been named as DrnkPay and has been developed by iBe TSE. This app connects the user's debit and credit card to either a biosensor or breath analyzer.

Before going out, users could set up the app by choosing how many drinks they plan to have. According to Metro, this is something that DrnkPay app converts to the units of alcohol. The users, before making purchases, need to blow the breath analyzer, finding out how close the user is to their limit. Interestingly, the users who don't want to carry a breath analyzer could use Quantac Tally biosensor wristband, the device helps measure alcohol diffusion through the skin.

The users would also be able to set their danger level, for example, three pegs of Stella. Along with this, the DrnkPay app would also allow users to put items they want to be blocked from buying, including shopping, pubs, etc. All the credit cards that have been linked to the app would then be blocked for 12 hours, the user would be sober by that time, The Telegraph reported. iBe TSE has been talking to several banks to make the app available for free.

"Once you've hit your self-imposed limit, the app will lock your card and prevent you making further payments. It's up to you whether to block all payments, or just certain 'weak points', such as takeaways, clubs, or that flight that seems like such a great idea at 4am," claims Francesco Scarnera, CEO of iBe TSE. The app that has been developed by iBe TSE and available on iOS from May 11. However, Android users would also be able to access the app since the Android version would also come up next week.
