Periscope, The Twitter Owned App Brings 360 Degree Live Streaming To Android App

Periscope had given the iOS users the ability to live stream in 360 degrees if they supported a 360-degree camera available. Once again, the company has been expanding the functionality and this time for the Android users. However, this is available only on specific 360-degree cameras and these are listed on Periscope's support website. As of now, the users would be able to access Insta360 Air by attaching to Android device.

According to AndroidHeadlines, there are few other options for streaming through multiple cameras, these include the Orah 4i and Ricoh Theta S, but again, the options are quite limited. Being able to live stream in 360 degrees is a very interesting feature and it gives the viewers the feeling as if they are there with the streamer. However, Periscope 360 degrees support is limited and it is expected that it would be supported by more cameras.

The change to Periscope is rather amazing as users would be able to watch 360-degree videos on Android. While using the app, users would see a Live 360 badge on the video that indicates it's a 360-degree video and not a normal video. It is the first time that both Periscope and Twitter have been trying their best to get the users use their platform over the rivals.

Earlier this year, Periscope had released Insta360 Nano, it is the iPhone counterpart to Insta360 Air, VRFocus reported. Insta360 specialize in creating easy to use and compact 360-degree cameras designed for working with the smartphone to capture broadcast and share 360-degree videos and photos in a simple, easy way. Insta360 Air uses plug and play system which clips within the USB port of the Android device.

Users using the Periscope app would be able to view any broadcast through smartphone and move it to view every angle with easy touch control. The Insta360 Air camera costs around $129 and users can order it through the Insta360 web store.
