HP Elite X2 1012 G2 Update: An Improved Laptop-Tablet Device In Terms Of Specs & Features

The PC manufacturer HP has recently unveiled the Elite X2 1012 G2 which is a biz-focused detachable that sets its sights on Microsoft's Surface lineup. Improving on the HP Elite X2 before it, this new model dumps the old Intel Core M processor and swaps it out in favor of a 7th-generation Intel Core i7 chip with an optional vPro.

According to PC World, this new HP Elite X2 comes with a 16GB of RAM; double the 8GB found in the previous model and its storage extends up to 128GB SSD. The battery life has been improved too, in which HP is claiming that the device will last for 10 hours and 15 minutes. The firm's quick charging technology is also equipped with the device, which HP proudly offers 50 percent juice after just half an hour on a charge.

The new HP Elite X2's detachable 12.3-inch display is slightly bigger than the 12-inch screen that was found on the previous model. HP claimed that the device is no bigger than before as it managed to slim down the size of the bezel. The device's screen packs a 2734 x 1824 resolution where HP boasts that it will let off 450 nits of brightness.

As noted by ZDNet, this new HP Elite X2 also supports the bundled Wacom pen that offers 2,048 levels of pressure sensitivity and a quick app launch on its end. As before, the built-in kickstand means the HP Elite X2 can switch between three different modes; stand mode, laptop mode, and tablet mode, the latter of which comes with reduced palm sensitivity for doodling on the display.

For the record, the new HP Elite X2 packs a built-in IR camera with Microsoft's Windows Hello authentication, both USB 3.0 and USB-C ports, WiGig and 4G LTE support, and HP's noise canceling technology. These features have been seen when the first commercial detachable that passes Skype for Business certification.
