Since Ubisoft decided to put the series on hold for a year, "Assassin's Creed" was set for a comeback this year. The company claims that it will arrive this fall and bring back one of the best elements from "Assassin's Creed Rogue: Naval combat" and "Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag."
According to Digital Trends, the latest entry in the long-running franchise will be called "Assassin's Creed: Origins." In 2016, the game was set in an ancient Egypt. The pre-order material is said to show the main character carrying a shield and bow while a hawk sits on his shoulder. The extra year it spent in development has allowed Ubisoft's developer team to produce the biggest Assassin's Creed the company has ever created.
Similar to the case with "Assassin's Creed: Syndicate," players will be able to switch between a female or male protagonist in "Assassin's Creed: Origins." While the main setting was said to be in Egypt, an internal teaser video reportedly transitions between various locations and periods throughout the game's history that includes World War 2, an Asian country, a modern day Abstergo Industries facility, and an era France.
As noted by PlayStation Universe, the return of naval combat is an exciting prospect. In "Assassin's Creed: Origins," the upcoming title will apparently allow players to sail the Mediterranean Sea as far as Greece.
As well as having a bigger game setting, "Assassin's Creed: Origins" will differ from previous Assassin's Creed games in terms of its structure. The upcoming title will have more emphasis on exploration, not be as linear as previous titles, and feature a character progression system less tied to the story; one development source occasionally compared it to "Skyrim."
Meanwhile, as with all speculations from different sources, the thing could change in the final version of the game. Fortunately, fans can learn a lot for some solid information at E3 next month. Stay tuned for more updates.
