Moto Z2 Play smartphone might arrive with the slimmer design and smaller battery. The company is planning to make the new smartphone thin by reducing the capacity of the bulky battery seen in the previous flagship-Moto Z Play launched last year. A renowned and reliable tipster Evan Blass shared few details regarding the Moto Z2 Play smartphone on Venture Beat.
According to Venture Beat, Evan Blass describes that the Moto Z2 Play smartphone could feature a lower capacity battery of 3000mAh when compared to that of its predecessor. The Moto Z Play sports a 3510mAh battery, which is claimed to be the real reason of smartphone becoming bulkier.
The results of reducing the battery size in Moto Z2 Play are reported to affect the overall design of the smartphone along with the usage time and weight. It is reported that the Moto Z2 Play could probably become 6mm thin but it will not match to the 5.19mm thinness of Moto Z's. It will also drop the maximum listed usage time from 50 hours to 30 hours and will go down to 145 grams from 165 grams.
According to Gadgets 360, Evan Blass also mentions that the company will install the same display as seen in the other Moto smartphones. The Moto Z2 Play smartphone is reported to feature 5.5-inch full-HD Super AMOLED display having a resolution of 1080 pixels by 1920 pixels.
It is also reported that the Moto Z2 Play smartphone will be powered by a 2.2GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 626 processor with eight cores instead of 2.0 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 with eight cores. The processor is tipped to be coupled with 4GB of RAM, 64GB internal storage, and Adreno 506 GPU.
The Moto Z2 Play is tipped to come with same 5-megapixel front-facing camera as in Moto Z Play. In addition, the smartphone is reported to have a reduction in resolution of the main camera for the increased imaging quality. The smartphone is expected to feature a 12-megapixel primary rear camera with f/1.7 aperture and featuring dual autofocus pixels.
The Moto Z2 Play is reported to be made available in Lunar Grey and Fine Gold colors. The smartphone is one of three handsets in the refreshed Moto Z2 lineup, and among the first in a series of Motorola phones that are reportedly set to be released throughout the rest of the year. The Moto smartphones expected this year are the new entry-level Moto C and C Plus, the Moto E4 and E4 Plus, and the Moto Z2 and Moto Z2 Force. Stay tuned for more updates.
