Blackberry has started to push the May Security to its Android smartphones. The unlocked BlackBerry DTEK60, DTEK50, Priv and KEYone smartphones are presumably on board with the security patch. This security patch includes a large number of crucial fixes that will boost the performances of the smartphones.

According to Android Headlines, unlocked variants bought from BlackBerry's official online store will be getting the May security update leaving the carrier-based variants behind. It is reported that the security patch is not the same update as the tech giant-Google has pushed into the tech market.

It is reported that Google's patch was developed in association with the chip maker-Qualcomm. The security patch contains more than 100 vulnerability fixes and brings stability and performance improvements. The update from the BlackBerry company is mainly focused on fixes and tweaks that specifically affect its own devices ignoring the patches and fixes that are geared toward Nexus and Pixel devices. The fixes taken care in the May security update are the issues with Qualcomm and Broadcom hardware, and security issues.

According to The Android Soul, BlackBerry DTEK50 has started to receive the May Securit update over-the-air. It carries a build number AAL135 and weighs at only 100.5MB. It is reported that this update also brings the performance and stability improvements along with bug fixes over the previous build.

All the BlackBerry owners are reported to check for a notification on May Security update. If the notification is not found, then the users can manually check the update by heading to Settings > About device > System updates.

It should also be noted that a good battery with at least 80 percent is needed to download and install the update.  The device turning off or losing power during this process could result in an erratic function, data loss, or sometimes may get into a major issue. stay tuned for more updates.
