Apple has been trying to manufacture an iPhone with sapphire screen for quite a long time. This is because such screens are more durable than glasses and scratch proof. What's more interesting is that these sapphire screens can only be scratched by diamonds and other hard gems. The screen is extremely brittle and very difficult to produce. In fact, the company it chose to produce the screen went bankrupt.
With the turn of events, it appeared that the hope of a sapphire screen device is gone. According to The Next Web, it is exactly then the HTC announced a special edition of the U Ultra phone. There's no doubt it would be more expensive than other devices. But again, that is justified given the difficulties it has to face to create it. It appears that HTC has managed to carry off the challenge that Apple failed to pull off.
The HTC U Ultra Sapphire is a limited edition device that is available only in selected countries across the globe. This reduces the stress of mass production of the device. Even though YouTuber JerryRigEverything hasn't gone deep into the screen makeup, the buyers can expect it soon enough. Now, Sapphire is easier to work with, but in smaller sizes. Apple has also made its home button and camera lens of it. Apart from this, it is also available on Apple Watch, The Verge reported.
Just as the name suggests, the HTC U Ultra really stays true to the claim. It is capable of resisting more scratches than other phone has ever tested and even matches up to luxury watches. Even while Gorilla glass phones start scratching around 6 level of hardness on Mohs scale, Sapphire screen survives a level 8 on the same scale. So, the only way to scratch the screen would be if the user scratches it with ruby or diamonds.
