Playtonic Games just released a new patch for “Yooka-Laylee” which it hopes would reduce the pesky gibberish voices in the game. The update allows players to make the voices go faster or skip the voices. The game publisher explains that those awful voices belong to the stand-in instead of the actual voice talents.
Besides removing the gibberish voices on “Yooka-Laylee,” the patch would allow gamers to skip dialogues faster and also bypass cutscenes, PCGamer reports. Playtonic says that the patch would also add a “sprinkling of design polish throughout.” It also alters how the camera works, although the publisher did not provide details. But Playtonic promises to provide more details on changes in the coming weeks.
A Eurogamer review of “Yooka-Laylee” notes that the camera of the game is sufficiently dependable when it concerns bouncing between platforms or gliding through the loops. However, when it comes to requiring a measure of precision, such as the use of Yooka’s tongue to lasso a grapple point or berry during a puzzle that is timer-based, it could be a headache, writes the reviewer.
Polygon points out that what Playtonic released was a pre-game patch for “Yooka-Laylee.” The game website notes that the main focus of the new content is toward players who love the buggier parts of the game. “Yooka-Laylee” launched in April, but since then, gamers found different skips and glitches that reduced its playthrough to less than 40 minutes.
Polygon adds that is a trick that lets players go around a frustrating requirement to find 100 of “Yooka-Laylee’s” collectible pages to progress and become the final boss. When players use that glitch, they could cut right to the chase faster. However, they would still need to unlock different moves and upgrades for the glitch to work. The current world record for the game is 34 minutes and 48 seconds. TheRedSock, a streamer, says the run is quite impressive, but he could likely break the record next time.
