Microsoft Full Office 365 Desktop Applications Coming Shortly To Windows Store

Microsoft is all set to bring out its best apps to speed up Windows 10 S. Now, the Windows 10 S is a new edition of the operating system that has been limited to running and installing apps from Window Store. So, the news didn't exactly come as a surprise to the users. Several earlier reports suggested the arrival of Office 365 desktop applications to the Windows Store.

Interestingly, unlike the previous Windows RT, Windows 10 S would run Win32 apps after they are able to convert those for distribution through the Store. It would support only the Office add-ins and not COM add-ins, ZDNet reported. This can be easily done through the Microsoft Desktop App Badge (Project Centennial). Till now, it is the Office Mobile apps that have been listed on the Windows Store. However, these are believed to be limited versions of the app that are specially designed for touchscreen devices. Also, the mobile apps had fewer features compared to the desktop apps.

According to PCWorld,the porting again, depends on the Project Centennial that allows the developers to take the usual desktop software and put it on the Windows Store. However, the initial results started appearing in September, 2016 and the complete set of Office programs came in next. As the tech experts believe the arrival of Microsoft Office apps on PC would give a fitting reply to Chromebook. That's not all, this fall, the desktop programs would also bring in 3D objects, thereby showcasing a mixed themed park in Windows 10 Creators Update.

But again, for Windows S to take the stage and gain popularity, Microsoft needs to push the PC developers to accept the Windows Store. The apps would also be purchasable, updated through the Store and downloadable. After releasing the new versions of Excel, PowerPoint and Word, Microsoft also plans to release Centennial versions of other apps.
