EVGA GeForce GTX 1080 Ti SC2 Gaming Hybrid With iCX Technology Packed With 9 Sensors Announced

May 03, 2017 11:44 AM EDT

EVGA Corporation, the American computer hardware company has announced GeForce GTX 1080 Ti SC2 Gaming Hybrid graphics card. This is equipped with EVGA's iCX technology, which combines an all-in-one liquid cooling solution with air-cooling to keep the graphics card chilled.

According to PC Gamer, the company has an iCX cooling solution to keep the GeForce GTX 1080 Ti SC2 Hybrid Gaming (11G-P4-6598-KR) cool at the time of working. It is reported that the graphics card comes with thermal sensors for targeted cooling and lets the user monitor temperatures throughout the card.

It is so developed that it holds nine additional thermal sensors along with multiple MCUs (memory controller units) embedded on the PCB. In addition, the "hybrid" version of its iCX cooling solution includes a low-noise blower fan that provides air-cooling to the VRMs and by using EVGA's Precision XOC utility, the real-time monitoring of each sensor can be done.

According to Tom's Hardware, the EVGA GeForce GTX 1080 Ti SC2 Hybrid Gaming (11G-P4-6598-KR) arrives with factory overclocked. The card is reported to have a 1,556 MHz on the core having a boost frequency of 1,670MHz and a memory clock speed of 11,016MHz, up from Nvidia's reference clocks of 1,480MHz and 1,582MHz, respectively.

It is reported that the EVGA GeForce GTX 1080 Ti SC2 Hybrid Gaming (11G-P4-6598-KR) is incorporated with a dedicated memory plate which is capable of transferring heat directly from the memory to the water block for ultimate cooling.

The amazingly designed copper plate is reported to have attached to the base of the water block. The fans available make contact with the GDDR5X memory modules for the better cooling process.

It is also reported that EVGA's hybrid cooling solution lowers the GPU temperatures from around 80⁰C to around 45⁰C. When this rate of cooling is compared to a standard GTX 1080 Ti, this system has better cooling capabilities.  The addition of liquid cooling to the GPU processor and memory asks for a higher overclocking headroom and it is reasonable to expect that.

EVGA has added a unique safety feature in the form of an integrated safety fuse which is nothing but an extra layer of protection for the graphics card. The device, which consumes 250W of power reportedly uses a 600W PSU or higher as recommended by the company. The GeForce GTX 1080 Ti SC2 Gaming Hybrid graphics card with iCX Technology is reported to be available at $810.
