‘StarCraft Remastered’ Latest News: Blizzard Developers Narrates Origins Behind Rebooted Game

For those who lived it when it first came out in the 90s, “StarCraft” was a keen alternative to folks who wanted a multiplayer game. Blizzard added “Brood Wars” to the mix, one that involved some bumps such as medics and leveling the field due to Zerg attacks.

Blizzard has somehow become nostalgic, wanting to bring back those game-related experiences to the players of today with "StarCraft: Remastered." And while that may be a good idea to the ones who missed playing through those skirmishes, a notable aspect would be the graphics.

Times are different now compared to before. High-resolution graphics delivery is the premium as we speak but the developers over at Blizzard recount those good old days to make “StarCraft” look pretty good. According to art director Samwise Didier, they simply threw a bunch of crap at the wall and saw what stuck – in reference to the creation of the races for “StarCraft” and “Brood War” via a post on the official blog.

"We knew that our Terrans were going to be rough and dirty. We knew we wanted the Protoss to be—not savage, exactly, but primal, and powerful. And we knew we wanted the Zerg to swarm."

To their credit, the Blizzard team turned to 3D modeling though they were limited to 15 colors per model, PC Gamer reported. If the game had come out today with the same presentation, one can just imagine the criticism and backlash. But the reality of it all is that “StarCraft” came at an age where game play stood out and graphics taking a backseat.

Depending on one’s taste, “StarCraft” was all about tactics and the battle of races. Graphical presentation was important as well but most know how high graphics would falter during the 90s if their hardware specs were not good enough. That all changes today and hopefully some will enjoy it as most did when it first came out. It may be nostalgia but frankly a game that should still remain interesting who love to try and outwit other players.
