BlackBerry hopes to get back into the fray by licensing TCL Communications to manufacture its mobile phone line. BlackBerry is hoping for a new lease of life with the upcoming launch of the BlackBerry KEYone.
According to Computer World, the $549 BlackBerry KEYone is set to ship on May 31 and will be equipped with an Android 7.1 Nougat with a Snapdragon 625 processor. The newest BlackBerry flagship has a fast-charging 3505 mAh battery, a 12MP rear camera, and an 8 MP front camera.
While the specifications of the BlackBerry KEYone are almost at par with the current crop of high-end smartphones, BlackBerry's niche has always been its software and security tools. That being said, the KEYone have those tools and much, much more, including an improved enterprise tools and emails.
First-hand users have a lot to say about the BlackBerry KEYone according to CrackBerry, and most of it on the positive side of things. Most of these users are in agreement that the strong points of the KEYone include its aesthetic features, battery life, quick operating system, and overall efficiency. While one user suggests that getting used to BlackBerry's trademark keyboard and scrolling features will take some time getting used to. Not too bad for a franchise left for dead, right?
BlackBerry struggled to compete against these tech giants and eventually fell out of the competition. Now that Nokia, the other mobile phone developer that dominated the industry before Apple and Samsung took over, is back in the fold, BlackBerry is hoping that the BlackBerry KEYone will at least turn a few heads. And if the company is successful at that, then they can continue its rise to prominence once again.
It only seems fitting that BlackBerry and Nokia try to break into the market they once dominated. Both companies have solid reputations even if both are not doing very well at the moment. But things could change for the better especially if the BlackBerry KEYone reaches a certain number of sales, and with good reviews to boot, BlackBerry could very well rise back from the dead.
