Samsung Galaxy S8 vs. Huawei P10: Smartphones With Best Specs & Features

Samsung's newly launched Galaxy S8 smartphone has amazing specifications and features. But, the Chinese tech giant's smartphone Huawei P10 is also one of the best smartphones released till date. A head-to-head comparison is necessary to check which handset is superior over other.

Display:  According to Samsung, the Galaxy S8 Smartphone holds a minimum bezel display at the top and bottom eliminating the physical home button. The device sports a 5.8-inch Super AMOLED capacitive touchscreen display with an 18.5:9 aspect ratio having a resolution of 1,440 pixels by 2,960 pixels. On the other hand, the Huawei P10 has 5.1-inch IPS-NEO LCD capacitive touchscreen display having a resolution of 1,080 pixels by 1,920 pixels.

Processor, GPU, RAM and Storage:  The Samsung Galaxy S8 is powered by Exynos 8895 Octa-core (4x2.3 GHz & 4x1.7 GHz) processor paired with Mali-G71 MP20 GPU for other regions and Qualcomm MSM8998 Snapdragon 835 Octa-core (4x2.35 GHz Kryo & 4x1.9 GHz Kryo) processor paired with Adreno 540 GPU for the United States tech market. The processor is also coupled with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage with an option of expansion up to 256GB via microSD card.

According to Huawei, the P10 smartphone is powered by HiSilicon Kirin 960 Octa-core (4x2.4 GHz Cortex-A73 & 4x1.8 GHz Cortex-A53) processor coupled with Mali-G71 MP8 GPU. The processor is also coupled with 4GB of RAM and 32GB or 64GB of onboard storage with an expansion up to 256GB via microSD card.

OS and Battery: The Samsung Galaxy S8 smartphone runs on Android 7.0 Nougat OS and a 3,000mAh battery with fast charging and Qi/PMA wireless charging support powers the smartphone. The Huawei P10 also runs on Android 7.0 Nougat OS and a 3,200mAh battery with fast charging support powers the phone.

Camera: The Samsung Galaxy S8 features a single 12MP Dual-Pixel camera at the rear with 1/2.5" sensor size, 1.4 µm pixel size, geo-tagging, simultaneous 4K video and 9MP image recording, touch focus, face/smile detection, Auto HDR and panorama features. The front face of the smartphone has an 8MP shooter with autofocus, dual video call, and Auto HDR features.

The Huawei P10 has a dual camera setup featuring 20MP and 12MP Leica sensors with Geo-tagging, touch focus, face detection, HDR and panorama features. The front face of the smartphone holds an 8MP sensor for selfies.

Other features: The Samsung Galaxy S8 smartphone has a fingerprint scanner located at the back and facial recognition is also featured for various important tasks of users. The device comes with Samsung DeX feature which allows users to use the Smartphone like a computer by docking it to monitor, keyboard, and mouse.

The Samsung Galaxy S8 device also comes with Wi-Fi, Bluetooth (v5.0 on the S8 and v4.2 on the P10), GPS, NFC, and the newer reversible Type-C port for charging and data transfer. The sensors included in the smartphone are Iris scanner, fingerprint (rear-mounted), accelerometer, gyro, proximity, compass, barometer, heart rate, and SpO2.

Colors and Price: The Samsung Galaxy S8 measures 148.9mm in height, 68.1mm in width, 8.0mm in thickness and weighs in at 155 grams. The handset is available in Midnight Black, Coral Blue, Orchid Grey, Arctic Silver, and Maple Gold based on the availability in particular region. The Samsung Galaxy S8 has a price tag of $720.

The Huawei P10 measures 145.3mm in height, 69.3mm in width, 7 mm in thickness and weighs in at 145 grams. The device is available in Mystic Silver, Dazzling Gold, Dazzling Blue, Rose Gold, Graphite Black, and Greenery. The phone has a price tag of $740.
