Apple in its bid to keep customers satisfied has added one more year to its warranty period. This will cover few of the elite first-gen watches as per sources. This move is to counter the battery issues faced by customers.
First-gen watches will have another year added to its initial two year warranty period. As reported by Ars Technica, Apple watches users will enjoy this service from the original date of purchase. Apple has been catering to the battery issues since November of last year, and this can be seen as a sigh of relief for such owners.
However, one does not need to be alarmed as paltry complaints have been registered till now. There is no health hazard related to this problem and the risk of the watch blowing up is negligible. Apple does not seem to risk its goodwill and has jacked up the watch's battery performance along with the additional warranty period.
As mentioned in Engadget, Apple's discussion board have addressed to the ballooning issue. The watch after sometime balloons up and forms a small gap. Nevertheless, the watch seems to run just as fine with reports suggesting a slight hike in sales since the end of 2016.
Apple watches have gained applause due to its durability and the outdoorsy look that has prompted many athletes to adore this device. FitBit has done well after its launch, but the brand value of Apple has given the first gen watches the edge over FitBit. The use of Siri and Apple Pay have lured customers and athletes as once can ask for directions or pay their respective clients even when they are out for a run or jog.
The battery issue is the only black spot in an overall excellent watch devised by Apple. It should be noted that any external damage such as broken screen due to accidents or other mishaps will not be covered.
