Samsung has been busy with its latest segments in various ways to restore its slightly damaged brand value after the "Note 7 debacle". In a bid to gain the trust of its users, Samsung has come up with a brilliant and more efficient parental control app. Though the name of the app has caused much confusion among users as the word Marshmallow mixes with Google's android version 6.0.
According to Deccan Chronicle, the new Marshmallow app from Samsung has a point system for the children. Under its guidance, the children will earn "Marshmallow points" when they use the smartphones on the 'right' way and will lose points when not. With the points, they can get gift cards from their parents too.
The parents can select which apps they want their children to use and which they want them to stay away. The parents can also restrict their children from visiting certain websites, which is a very good way to keep children away from pornography. Also, the children are eligible to set a usage limit of their Samsung smartphones through the Marshmallow app.
According to Daily Hunt, the Marshmallow mode also restricts children to a minimal usage of different apps. The parents can permit their children to a maximum of eight apps in their Samsung smartphones. The parents are eligible to set bedtimes for their children through the Marshmallow app to make sure their children are not stuck with their smartphones and skipping sleep time.
The Marshmallow app comes with a daily usage counter. This lets the parents as well as the children to track record of the daily usage of their Samsung smartphones. For even more detailed usage data they can look into the weekly reports. This helps the parents to curb down their children's' over-usage of smartphones.
Currently, the Samsung models which will be carrying the Marshmallow parental control app are Galaxy S8, Galaxy S8 plus, Galaxy S7, Galaxy S7 Edge, Galaxy S6, Galaxy S6 Edge, Galaxy S6 Edge+, Galaxy S5, Note 5, Note 4, Galaxy A Series, and the Samsung Galaxy J Series.
