Apple Music Latest News: Status Of New Streaming Service To Be Expounded At WWDC 2017

Mobile phones are not the only ones getting a facelift. Apple Music plans to do the same and the details could take center stage once WWDC 2017 comes around. The streaming service is expected to come out alongside the new iOS 11, a second attempt to boot Apple’s subscription-based streaming audio line.

Apple Music has hardly gained ground since initially launching two years ago. It did try to ramp thing a bit last year but somehow the effort has not panned out. This time, big changes could be in store and this is in the form of videos.

According to Bloomberg Businessweek, Apple Music has commissioned the aid of Jimmy Iovine. All that starts with Carpool Karaoke, something that British comedian James Corden handles. Aside from Carpool Karaoke, Apple reportedly plans to debut up to 10 different music series before 2017 comes to a close.

Aside from Carpool Karaoke, other shows already mentioned include Planet of the Apps and documentaries about labels such as Bad Boy Records and Cash Money records, Engadget reported. Clive Davis Documentary is another one in the mix, one that would be made exclusive to Apple Music.

Other than those, a potential R. Kelly series could be coming as well. Other speculated series include the Up Next series and Vital Signs which is a Dr. Dre biopic. With those plans, it seems that WWDC 2017 will have plenty in store. iOS 11 is, of course, one of the main features for the event so Apple Music stands to gain from the spotlight.

The move to add videos to Apple Music could be a gamble considering Spotify hardly gained from offering the same. Curiously, it begs to ask as well what lies ahead for iTunes. With the service slowly dissipating, it could either be integrated or eventually replaced if Apple Music does stir up something special that iTunes was unable to do.
