Xeon Gold & Platinum: The Best Ever Processors Of Intel

This week Intel has launched a list of its upcoming 34 Xeon processors which belong to Skylake-SP platform. The Intel Company has released this list of greatest processors, Xeon Gold and Platinum, through a Product Change Notification (PCN)-database. The newest 34 Xeon- 20 Gold and 14 Platinum processors are enlisted with a new naming agenda.

According to Ars Technica, reports have stated that Intel will change the current naming technique which has a series name (E3, E5 or E7), a model number, a four-digit number, and a version number. Instead of this previous naming system, Intel will introduce a new one. The naming of 14 Xeon Platinum processors will be based on speed 2.0-3.6GHz, 8000 series model, E7 range and 22-28 cores. The 20 Xeon Gold will be named on the basis of speed 2.0-3.6GHz, 6000 series and one 5000 series model with 14-22 cores.

Several reports have mentioned that the high-clock, high-cache, and low-core versions will also be available. Like, the Xeon Platinum 3.6GHz will possess the same design as the previous one but with fewer cores, high-cache, and high-clock options. It's also possible that the new nomenclature of Intel's Xeon Gold and Platinum version will have the T and M suffix variant. The function of T suffix is lower power, though the work of M suffix is unknown.

According to AnandTech, Intel has created three categories for its upcoming Xeon Gold and Platinum versions, which are- low core count (LCC), medium/high core count (MCC/HCC), and extreme core count (XCC). XCC is the most expensive version with highest cores and most cache. Reports have revealed that sometimes Intel offers the XCC with a limited core counting and large cache, like- Xeon Platinum 8156 3.6GHz. But one thing is noticeable that no processor is linear with clock frequency. Later, we will get a clear idea with the actual product's announcement.

The launch of Intel's Xeon Gold and Platinum chips has already created a popular demand though Intel has not specified anything about price. Both the Xeon Gold and Platinum versions have been reviewed greatly. So anyone who is about to create a high-end server is advised to wait for the launch of Intel's next-Gen Xeon Gold and Platinum processors.
