Samsung Launches In-Traffic Reply App, Prevents Users From Texting While Driving

With the growing dependency of smartphones, texting while driving has become a big concern. Even though it is dangerous to text while driving most people tend to do it. Samsung understands the urgency of texting and has come up with a great solution. The tech giant has released an app called the In-Traffic Reply app. Currently, the app is in its beta testing phase being conducted in Netherlands.

The In-Traffic Reply app would inform the sender when the receiver is driving a car or riding a bike. However, to detect that the user is driving or riding, the app depends on the GPS and phone sensors. The automatic replies are usually preset replies to the incoming text messages. As per latest reports, the complete app would launch around mid-May. The users would be able to download the app from Google Play Store.

Interestingly, as per BGR, In-Traffic Reply currently allows users to choose between two types of replies. The first once is the "I'm driving, so I cannot answer at the moment." This is the basic response the user can opt for or they can add something fun with animations. After the app is launched, Samsung is also planning to allow users to create a customize canned response.

As of now, it is unclear as to ow the app would work. Samsung's statement also didn't reveal as to how the app would distinguish between the driver and the passenger. However, experts are assuming that the app would automatically detect between driver and passenger through motion, Mashable reported. This is also not the first time that the tech giant has shown concern towards road safety.

Samsung had already launched the S Bike Mode feature with Samsung Galaxy J3 (2016). Just like the In-Traffic Reply feature, the S Bike Mode also alerts the sender when the receiver is riding a bike and unable to receive calls. The user needs to press 1 to receive the call and reject call using gesture.
