It seems Amazon isn't happy making Alexa its personal assistant. It has made Alexa its personal stylist now. The tech giant, on Wednesday launched the Echo Look. This would be part Alexa, part camera and of course, part stylist. This oval- shaped device would feature voice controlled camera, LED lights. It would allow users to take full body photos and videos to compare outfits.
Amazon Echo Look does everything that Amazon Echo speaker is capable of doing. This includes giving weather updates, reading news and more. Along with these features, it is now capable of telling the users what to wear and what not to wear. A compatible app would keep a track of all the outfits through what the Amazon has named it, personal lookbook.
The app also comes with a style check feature that works like having a personal stylist at service all the time. It allows Alexa to collect two photos of the user and then compare which one is the best, GSMArena reported. Interestingly, Alexa has been powered by both machine learning technology as well as human opinion. As per Amazon spokesperson, the automated result would include styling, fit, color, current trends, season and more. To make the app even better, Amazon's fashion experts also help train this software.
As per3 CNN, once available, Amazon Echo would be priced around $200. As of now, users need to request for invitation to buy the product. Till now, Amazon hasn't shared any information about the computers or humans behind the Echo Look. The tech biggie has revealed that the software has been trained on several set of individuals with different skin tone and body types. however, it did not reveal further information.
It seems Amazon is reluctant to disclose more information on the automated outfit judge. However, its launch has already raised interesting questions in the minds of users. Apart from guiding users on their daily style, the Echo Look Book would also help users with brands and latest style.
