Statistics say that currently, Amazon has 16.7 million Prime subscribers. The company decided to take the next step by now forming a marketplace for digital subscriptions, named "Subscribe with Amazon".

Subscribe with Amazon is a sort of hub for a subscription to digital services by third-party companies. Just like any other section of Amazon, one can browse through this subscription store. Using this program, one would be able to discover new subscriptions, get deals and manage all of one's subscriptions through an online dashboard.

Amazon had been developing the Subscribe with Amazon since 2016. Hints of it had also been seen on Amazon's site for some time now. The company finally launched the feature this week and Subscribe with Amazon is now available for sign-ups.

The range and variety of digital subscriptions offered by Subscribe with Amazon are quite impressive. According to TechCrunch, subscriptions for streaming services like Sling TV, subscription-based applications, online fitness classes by Fitbit's Fitstar and even subscriptions to meal planning and recipe services by eMeals. Entities like Dropbox, The New Yorker, and Creativebug, as well as Amazon's own Amazon Rapids and STEM Club, are associated with this program. There are even exciting offers like 50% off on certain subscriptions right now.

Business firms wishing to get featured in Subscribe with Amazon must apply and first get approved by Amazon. However, the criteria to get a feature are not that tough to accomplish. The company must be US-based and the subscription product is to be a digital app, service or website that would charge some recurring subscription fee. One will be able to build custom Amazon pages, with full freedom of price-fixing and offering introductory deals and free trials. As per Android Police, Amazon takes a 30% of each subscription fee in the first year. In the subsequent years, the rate goes down to 15%.

Subscribe with Amazon would act as a central hub for users to discover and manage a variety of services. Though restricted to third-party digital products, users expect the company to expand to physical subscriptions.
