CI Games launched on Tuesday its latest shooter franchise, “Sniper Ghost Warrior 3.” However, players who purchased the game found out it did not have a multiplayer mode. The mode would only be added in Q3 2017 as a free patch.
Fans of the franchise were disappointed because CI Games talked about the multiplayer mode of “Sniper Ghost Warrior 3” before the launch. It had even included several maps in the game’s season pass, Eurogamer points out. CI Games explains in a statement that it wants gamers to first focus on its single-player experience.
But CI Games promises to provide regular content updates after the launch of “Sniper Ghost Warrior 3.” It would release for free the multiplayer mode after a few months so as not to dilute any potential from the single-player experience. However, beyond the delay of the game’s rollout, a player found other issues.
Among the issues hounding “Sniper Ghost Warrior 3” are the five-minute level loading times on PlayStation 4 and enemies that disappear if the player goes too far away. Those are big issues for a sniping game. In a review of the game, GameSpot critic Richard Wakeling gave the game 5/10 because of nagging glitches and technical problems. These issues made the game difficult to recommend, he says.
Metro adds that unlike the Nintendo Switch game “The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild” which has a secret in every corner, “Sniper Ghost Warrior 3” has nothing but “miles of ugly wilderness.” At its best, the game reminds players of a militarized version of “Hitman.” Although sniping is handled very well, the player has to adjust for wind and gravity on the higher difficulties.
There is also a complaint that the pace of “Sniper Ghost Warrior 3” is extremely slow and relatively regimented. Despite the limits of the game, the British daily says the game has a decent variety in mission locations which makes it surprisingly enjoyable.
