Bezel-less Four Curved Display On Phone Screens: Rumored To Be In The Works By Samsung & LG

Samsung Galaxy S8, the latest flagship device released by Samsung is truly stunning with its curved edge-to-edge infinity display. However, it seems like Samsung is not going to stop there. Recent reports claim that the tech giant is aiming to create a bezel-less display on all four sides of the screen.

Latest updates claim that Samsung is working on a truly bezel-less four curved display that would allow the screen-to-body ratio at over 98 percent. According to reports from CNET, both Samsung and LG are rumored to be currently working on this technology. The recent trend this year for smartphones seem to focus on large screen-to-body ratios and slim bezel-less displays. The Xiaomi Mi Mix, LG G6, and the Samsung Galaxy S8 are some of the smartphones in the market representing the on-going trend. With this trend, it also keeps the phone size in check as the display size grows since it fits a larger screen into a smaller body. Currently, the Samsung Galaxy S8 has 83 percent screen-to-body ratio while the LG G6, on the other hand, takes up a little over 78 percent.

However, according to Android Authority, citing ETNews (a Korean publication), it is likely that these displays will not be available until next year as there are technical difficulties in the lamination process. Furthermore, reports also mentioned that the current lamination process will not let the corners register a person's touch, thus, rendering it useless when the display is curved on all four sides.

As this technology poses some challenges, both Samsung and LG are reportedly focusing more on efforts in finding a new lamination process technology that can make the bezel-less four curved display possible. Regardless of these setbacks, it is for certain that many will be anticipating this bezel-less four curved display in the near future.
