Sharp undeniably made a huge name in the Android world but it also has a habit of coming up with some interesting products. One of the few is their near-bezel free design smartphone that was released last 2014, well before the edge-to-edge displays became a trend on flagship iterations.
Recent reports from Android Authority reveal that Sharp just unveiled their latest smartphone which is the Aquos R. Updates claim that the Aquos R will include high-end hardware but what is interesting is one of its accessories which includes some unusual features.
But before we get into that, let us have a closer look at the Aquos R itself. Further reports suggest that it sports a 5.3-inch IGZO LCD display with QHD resolution. The Aquos R is reported to be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 chipset with 4GB of RAM.
The Aquos R will also include a 64GB internal storage and a 22.6 megapixel rear camera with a 90 degree wide angle lens. This will be coupled with a 16.3 megapixel front shooter. Other reports claim that the Aquos R will run on Android 7.1.1 Nougat, a 3,160mAh battery capacity, Quick Charge 3.0 support and a fingerprint sensor.
Now for the most unique feature of the Aquos R, Android Police reveals a charging dock which is truly one of a kind. The Robocle charging dock is reported to use the new EMOP AI assistant to listen and follow the owner's voice. This makes the whole Robocle charging dock automatically turn and face the owner. This feature may be a bit creepy for some but it is definitely and interesting one as well.
As for the price point and exact release date updates, Sharp is yet to announce these information. Moreover, details on Aquos R's release outside its native land, Japan, is also expected to follow. Sharp's new Aquos R is expected to be released in 2017.
