Motorola is really doing a great job on providing the latest version of Operating System, Android 7.0 Nougat Update, to its Moto G4 and Moto G4 Plus devices. Already Motorola has rolled the Android 7.0 Nougat update in various markets including the US. However, the third device in the family, the Moto G4 Play, is still waiting for it.
The Moto G4 Play was released in August last year, which is three months after the other handsets, as the least costly option in the three smartphones. This was the same month which Android 7.0 Nougat first hit the scene, so the question of when the Moto G4 Play would get the latest OS update was always going to be on the mind of its owners.
Fortunately, Android Authority has been informed by a Lenovo spokesperson that, "Consumers will start to see Android Nougat on Moto G4 Play in June." This news has arrived via a US PR, so publication presumes that the US consumers will see it then.
Normally, manufacturer update schedules prioritize the latest flagship releases, but as the Moto G4 series are so close together in price (only $100 separates them) and their software, it seemed possible that they would all receive the Android 7.0 Nougat update around the same time. However, that's clearly not the situation as far as Android 7.0 Nougat is concerned.
To recall, the Motorola Moto G4 Play is powered by Quad-core 1.2 GHz Cortex-A53 Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 processor. The device supports Adreno 306 GPU. The Motorola Moto G4 Play is having with 1/2 GB of RAM, as noted by Go Android.
On the camera front, the Moto G4 Play sports an 8-megapixel camera on the rear panel, while on the front side it fits a 5-megapixel selfie snapper. The smartphone is backed by a 2800 mAh battery and includes connectivity options like - 4G LTE support, Bluetooth version 4.1 LE and WiFi, as per India Today.
However, right now at least Moto G4 Play owners have an Estimated Time Arrival for the Android 7.0 Nougat update instead of just hanging around wondering about it. The update is might start hitting device in the last days of May and will reach to all devices by June.
