Xiaomi mobiles are considered as Chinese's Apple and continue to release high-end Smartphones with cheaper prices. The company has announced today its new release, Xiaomi Mi 6 that boasts top-end specs and features straight out of Apple and Samsung.
The phone, which is launched in Beijing, carries a 5.15-inch display panel with 6GB of RAM and 64GB internal storage memory. Xiaomi Mi 6 is powered by Snapdragon 835, the same chipset that fuels Samsung's latest gadget.
For the camera, Xiaomi Mi 6 features a 12-megapixel dual camera that supports the wide-angle lens with the telephoto lens that offers 2x optical zoom. This trait was first time seen in iPhone 7.
Other things that will ignite fans' interest is its features including 2x2 dual Wi-Fi, an ultra dark mode for late night reading, and dual stereo speakers. It's also good to be noted that Xiaomi Mi 6 have water resistance and is fueled by 3,350 mAh battery capacity.
There will be three variants of Xiaomi Mi 6, which are the premium, standard, and ceramic edition. They are priced at $363 for the standard phone, but if customers decide to upgrade the internal memory into 128GB, the phone will cost around $421. The premium and standard mobiles are silvery shiny like the liquid metal in color.
For the Xiaomi Mi 6 ceramic variant that brings in 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage, customers will be charged around $436. The ceramic version is adorned with 18 karat gold trims around the camera. For comparison, Huawei P10 costs $696 whereas Samsung Galaxy S8 is priced at $730, having more cost than Xiaomi's newest handset despite carrying the same specs and features, as reported by Mashable.
According to Forbes, Wang claims that the reason why Xiaomi Mi 6 phone price is cheap despite its powerful feature and specs is based on the business model of that phone as being 'Cost up' and not 'Mark up'. Most of the high-end gadgets like Samsung, Apple, Oppo, Huawei use the traditional business model of marking up pricing and use a chunk of that profit to pay for marketing.
Through Xiaomi Mi 6, however, the company wants to deliver a high-performance mobile with affordable price without much markup. The company, so far, has only taken profit for the cost of manufacturing, labor, and overhead.
Xiaomi Mi 6' price is definitely more budget-friendly than any other high-end phones mentioned above. The only problem is whether or not they will be shipped to the US since the Chinese Smartphone manufacturer might not have that idea in mind.
