Huawei Reportedly Shipping Different Memory Configurations Of Their 2017 P10 Model

There have been recent reports of Huawei shipping their flagship model, the Huawei P10, having different memory configurations.  This, of course, is causing a stir among the customers as it is affecting the performance of the device.

Huawei released the Huawei P10 in February 2017. The device sports impressive features like Android Nougat 7.0 operating system, 4 GB RAM, fingerprint sensor and a secondary camera co-engineered with Leica. However, recent complaints from consumers state that they have received the flagship model with different memory configurations.

Speaking of the technicalities, the Huawei P10 models show either of the two RAMs, LPDDR3 or LPDDR4. The storage in the device is also found to be any of the three types - UFS 2.0, UFS 2.1 or eMMC 5.1. According to Android Authority, the P10 variants having LPDDR4 RAM and UFS 2.1 will have a better performance than the variants with LPDDR3 RAM and eMMC 5.1 type storage.

The recent P10 handsets shipped out by Huawei reportedly can contain any combination of the types of RAM and storage. The concerned components in the device affect the speed with which information is written or read to the device storage. Hence many consumers are complaining about having paid more for inferior features.

According to Gizmo china, there have been discussions in various forums, among Huawei P10 users in China regarding this issue. Whether the case is the same in other markets, it is yet to be known. The website furnished screenshots of the read and write speeds of P10 handsets of various users. These speeds obtained using the benchmark app Androbench 5.0, show immense variation. The read speeds, for example, vary from over 700 Mbps to under 100 Mbps. The only explainable reason is the use of the different storage categories as stated above in different models of the Huawei P10.

Despite all this, Huawei is yet to make any comment on this issue. It is a fact that sometimes, internal components differ as per the market. However, consumers are eagerly waiting for an answer or action by the China-based company to resolve the problem.
