Instagram’s Newest Feature Would Not Let Memories Fade Away

Launching new updates and adding new features rapidly, Instagram is continuing to give its users pleasant surprises. The newest feature added lets one save posts to one's private collection.

It is no surprise that Instagram is gaining popularity by the hour and is one of the most used social networking apps. The apps most raved about feature was the Story, which allows one to post a photo for just 24 hours. Instagram has now released the next best thing. One can now save posts that one might want to come back to.

The option to save posts is very helpful. Most users have been in a situation when they came across a nice post while scrolling through Instagram and wished they didn't lose it after refreshing their feed. The Save Post option is the exact rescue to this problem. Now, one can save the post that one sees on other accounts into one's collection. This collection is private and only visible to the user.

The procedure of saving posts simply includes tapping the bookmark icon on the bottom right of the post. The picture or video is then saved into the collection. One can visit the saved posts by selecting the same bookmark logo on one's own profile.

However, Instagram has not stopped just there. Recently, the Instagram Blog announced that Instagram version 10.16 users can now actually sort their saved posts into separate collections. To do so, the user has to tap the plus sign in the top right corner of the Saved Posts page, name the collection and then add the related posts to the collection. Like the saved posts, these collections will only be visible to the user.

The Verge has compared this feature of Instagram to the concept of Pinterest. The only difference is that the collections on Instagram cannot be made public, unlike Pinterest.

Instagram's new Save Post feature is definitely a hit and reportedly, 46% of Instagrammers have saved at least one post so far. Instagram users may be impressed with their efforts to build a better app.
