Windows 10 Creators Update: New Settings App Improves On Warranted Access To Traditional Control Panel Administration

The Windows 10 Creators update is rolling out and there are plenty of changes to look forward to. There are a lot of new things to digest, something IT Administrators may find difficult to adapt to in the early stages. Then again, that is the usual scenario each time a new operating system comes out.

One feature that most will have to get used to is the Settings app, the Windows Blog noted. It takes the place of the age-old Control Panel, that part of the Windows OS where hardware and software changes are made. Under the Windows 10 Creators update, the Settings app aims to make life easier for both traditional users and administrators.

Access to the Settings of Windows 10 would hardly matter for individual consumers. But the situation differs immensely when one talks about a corporate scene. In an effort to prevent users from making unnecessary changes, the new Settings app feature brought in by the Windows 10 Creators update hopes to improve the things a standard user would see if they access it, Digital Trends reported.

This may not be new for IT administrators but a necessity to prevent unwarranted configuration that could leave the machine (and the network) in a compromising position. There was a way to hide the workstation’s control panel, normally done through the Group Policy applied. With the Windows 10 Creators update, a bit of getting used to is needed to make it work.

Given time, the Windows 10 Creators update will be lauded for the new feature. It will eventually get easier as administrators try to safeguard the organization workstations and adapt things like encryption and power configurations. With the limitations to customizing configurations, Windows 10 may have just put a stop to the headaches that IT personnel have to deal with from folks who simply cannot keep their hands off exploring and tinkering their computer.
