Samsung Galaxy Note 8 & Samsung Galaxy S8 Latest News: S8 Wins Drop Test Vs iPhone 7; AI Bixby Has Issues?

Apr 18, 2017 03:52 AM EDT

The Samsung Galaxy Note 8 and the Samsung Galaxy S8 are the most anticipated smartphones of 2017. However, the AI Bixby is reportedly having some technical issues. Meanwhile, the Galaxy S8 is being subjected to rigorous testing while a new image leak of the Galaxy Note 8 has surfaced online.

According to Forbes, a number of YouTube channels have started put the Samsung Galaxy S8 through its paces by subjecting the newest Samsung flagship to the most rigorous tests a smartphone can face. The tests involved subjecting the Galaxy S8 to an operating system speed test, durability test and drop test. Meanwhile, an alleged image leak of the Samsung Galaxy Note 8 is making its round online.

The Samsung Galaxy Note 8 is still months away from its launch while the Samsung Galaxy S8 is set for release on April 21 and people are eagerly waiting to see whether it lives up to its hype. That said, the Galaxy S8 was pitted against the LG G6 and iPhone 7 Plus for the aforementioned battery of tests.

The speed test result shows no surprise as the Galaxy S8 boots up and loads the apps quicker than the LG G6 even though the G6 loads up the setting apps faster. While the iPhone 7 Plus is a tad quicker than the Galaxy S8 in the same tests, there are no noticeable differences between the Galaxy S8 and the iPhone 7 Plus in terms of loading the apps that are not graphic-intensive. For the durability test and drop test, the Galaxy S8 beat the iPhone 7 Plus handily, something the South Korean tech giant might want to take note as they inch closer to the launch of the Samsung Galaxy Note 8.

The Samsung Galaxy Note 8 and the Samsung Galaxy S8 (and Galaxy S8 Plus for that matter) would sport the much-hyped Samsung AI, Bixby. However, following the AI's demo for a group including Axios, Bixby seemingly ran into some technical difficulties and failed to operate properly. That said, Axios reports that only a handful of Bixby's features would be introduced during the Galaxy S8's debut on the market.

As for the alleged image leak of the Samsung Galaxy Note 8, this recent purported image of the Galaxy Note 8 shows that the phablet does not include bezels or a physical home button. It also features curved edges sported by the Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus. Another purported schematic image of the Samsung Galaxy Note 8 has surfaced a few weeks ago providing possible details for the Galaxy Note 8.

As stated above, the Samsung Galaxy Note 8 like the Samsung Galaxy S8 will be equipped with the AI Bixby. Fans of the Samsung's phablet line are certainly hoping that the AI would be 100 percent operational by the time the Samsung phablet flagship launches later this year.
