Google Pixel 2 Update: LG Partnership Strengthens OLED Display Integration For Flagship

The Google Pixel 2 is one of them much-awaited devices and the smartphone could be getting a huge bump in the form of an OLED display screen. This was already suggested before but the anticipated partnership between LG and Google should finally turn that rumor into a reality.

If so, the Google Pixel 2 will invade the curved OLED display screen party that Samsung and Apple are currently in. Samsung was the first to introduced the technology and the word out right now is that the same will be applied to the upcoming iPhone 8, 9 to 5 Mac reported. But the difference here is the supplier.

Samsung will reportedly supply Apple with the OLED screens and play a key role in the supply chain management for related components. For the Google Pixel 2, LG will be the supply partner. The word out is that Google has offered roughly one trillion Korean won (approximate $800 million), Forbes reported.

With the money involved, it looks like Google is making sure that the Google Pixel 2 has enough OLED displays available, averting the supply problems that the iPhone 8 could be facing later this year. LG has not formally accepted the offer but the belief is that they are interested. An official announcement for the deal could be out soon.

Most are awaiting the next Google Pixel installments with hardware chief Rick Osterloh confirming that new models will be coming. This would include the Google Pixel 2 and Pixel XL 2, both of which are set to come out this 2017.

For those who haven’t heard, the Google Pixel 2 will reportedly come powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 chipset, a 16 MP main camera and a front-facing 8 MP shooter aside from the curved OLED display. Other specs could include the advanced biometric security in play to date plus the usual RAM, internal storage and sufficient battery complement.
