Apr 18, 2017 03:25 AM EDT

The issues tied up to the MacBook Pro 2016 just never cease and the latest has to do with an alleged popping sound. The sound is likened to a slowly squeezing plastic bottle, something that reportedly occurs during processes.

According to 9 to 5 Mac, the popping sound kicks in when the fan starts to run when the heat gets out of hand. The issue seems to prevalent in 15-inch MacBook Pro where a lot of users have tried to pin down the problem. Some have pointed out the hinges as a possible root and several users were able to replicate the sound when they pressed the Apple logo at the back of the screen.

Dongles were also suggested though that claim needs to be verified. One user was able to bring the MacBook Pro 2016 to a service center to find out the actual cause. When he brought the device to the service center, the technician pointed to a small dent located at the bottom of the casing as the cause fo the problem.

According to user ACA25, the whole bottom portion of the MacBook Pro 2016 needed to be replaced and a $130 fee was being charged. The problem was reportedly not covered by warranty since it is a “user-inflicted” damage. He did pay the fee but the popping sound still remained. A different user had the top part replaced but the sound still persisted, BGR.com reported.

As of this writing, Apple has yet to reveal the reason behind the irritating popping sound of the MacBook Pro 2016. It could be the fan as suspected earlier on, possibly referring to a faulty fan. If not, Apple has its work cut out to get down to the root cause of the pop, another downside to an already disappointing redesigned Apple laptop.
