'Star Wars Battlefront 2' Release Date & News Update: All You Need To Know

Behold this information all you Star Wars gamers and fans —a sequel to Star Wars Battlefront is on its way. The first trailer for "Star Wars Battlefront 2" has officially been posted by Electronic Arts on YouTube last Friday.

Reports from NESN reveal that its campaign will take place during the 30-year gap between the "Star Wars: Return of the Jedi" and "Star Wars: The Force Awakens." Further reports indicate that similar to its prequel, "Star Wars Battlefront 2's" multiplayer mode is developed by DICE. Reports also add that it will span all three eras of the "Star Wars" movies. It will also be released on PC, Microsoft's XBOX One and Sony's Playstation 4. However, Nintendo Switch will not be joining, news outlets from the rumor mill suggest.

As cited by Mashable, Bernd Diemer, Creative Director at DICE has shared regarding "Star Wars Battlefront 2," "You have many parts that make up a Star Wars story. You have blasters and ships. You have families. You have faith and the Force. But for me what really ties it all together is the hero's journey. Even as a lowly trooper, you can evolve your character. You can become the best trooper in the universe. And maybe, that will give you the chance of taking of Darth Vader or Kylo Ren and thereby become a hero to your fellow troopers."

Further reports share that DICE is aiming to get players invested by adding more depth into to "Star Wars Battlefront 2". "DICE nailed down this rock-paper-scissors sandbox environment where anything can happen at any second," Diemer stated. This is with reference to the Star Wars Battlefront 2's way to foster unscripted moments. Diemer further states that they will be introducing classes to the upcoming iteration. He added that the styles that will be associated with the classes are going to be distinct and that each of the troopers will be given with a new personality. He advised that gamers can grow as a trooper through collecting Star Card while searching for new gadgets and upgrading and customizing their weapons.

It is also reported that there is a much stronger emphasis in "Star Wars Battlefront 2" on space combat. Motive Studios team, which is handling "Star Wars Battlefront 2's" campaign, shows this through the story of Iden Versio. A leader of an elite Imperial ground-and-space commando unit called Inferno Squad. Her journey tells a story of a rank-and-file soldier turned into a hero. The "Star Wars Battlefront 2" is reported to be released officially on Nov 17, 2017.
