The games available for the Nintendo Switch continue to pile up and the latest addition will reportedly be “Minecraft.” The digital version of the game is all set to join the mix on May 11 with the physical version following at a later date.
Similar to what most are experiencing right now, the Nintendo Switch version of “Minecraft” will include multiplayer features where up to eight players can play the game locally. That includes switch-screen and support for the Switch Pro controller, IGN reported. Adding more flavor is the inclusion of the “Super Mario Mash-Up” pack which previously came with the Wii U. This means that Nintendo Switch owners can also expect the Mario-themed skins, textures, and music among others.
The announcement is the latest update for “Minecraft” on the Nintendo Switch. It was announced back in January that the game was coming back in January. It remains to be seen what PC features will come along with the Switch version. Aside from “Minecraft,” another game also coming is “Splatoon 2.” The revelations were made during the Direct presentation.
These developments ramp up the fortunes of Nintendo which also announced a corporate milestone. The Nintendo Switch sold more than 906,000 units in the United States alone according to the NPD Group, making it the fastest-selling video game of all time, Business Wire reported.
Despite the issues tied up to the availability of the Nintendo Switch, the big numbers speak well on the future of the gaming company. Tackling the issue of demand remains a problem for Nintendo though they vow to do the necessary to make sure that aspiring owners do get their own unit.
The success has radiated as well to the company’s popular game titles. “The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild” sold over 1.3 million units, 925,000 for the Nintendo Switch and about 460,000 units for the Wii U. Another game expected to strike it well is “Mario Kart 8 Deluxe,” which is set to launch on April 28.
