Bioware released Patch 1.05 on April 6 for “Mass Effect: Andromeda.” The update improves the facial animation of the characters in the game. However, players who use pirated version of the game have been locked out of the patch.
New Version Of Anti-Tamper Software
According to GameSpot, Patch 1.05 upgraded “Mass Effect: Andromeda’s” Denuvo anti-tamper software to a new version. The upgrade keeps out pirates from cracking the game and prevents them from upgrading. Bioware released the patch because the game was cracked 10 days after it was released even if it was protected by Denuvo and the Origin platform, DSO Gaming reports.
With Patch 1.05, the upgraded graphics of “Mass Effect: Andromeda” improve the appearance of eyes for humans and Asan characters. Other improvements include higher inventory limits, ability to skip the long transition animations while traveling between planets in the galaxy map, and better voice-over lip sync. The new version of Denuvo is also being used on other games. “Automata,” “2Dark,” and “Dead Rising 4” are also using the new version of Denuvo which has never been broken, PC Gamer reports.
Ugly Facial Animation
SAGamer notes that before the release of Patch 1.05, “Mass Effect: Andromeda” was criticized at the launch because of the ugly facial animation throughout the game. It was because the launch version of the Denuvo was an out-of-date one of the Anti-Piracy DRM component. The result was it became so easy for pirates to crack the game which they successfully did in just 10 days after the game’s launch.
The proof of Bioware’s use of an outdated version of Denuvo were strings of code in “Mass Effect: Andromeda’s” executable file found in other games with the latest version of the software. But the strings of code could not be found on the version of the game before the release of Patch 1.0, Twinfinite reports.
