The three android mobile brand, LG, Huawei, and Oppo will finally get their very own on-screen fingerprint readers. The announcement has been made by CrucialTec, a developer of a biometric solution, as they will be the company to produce it for all three brands.
According to Phone Arena, CrucialTec was able to get a patent for their transparent fingerprint sensor which will be the same technology they will equip in future Oppo, LG and Huawei phones. This new technology is said to improve the touch sensitivity of a portion of the screen so it can start scanning fingerprints.
In addition, the new module can easily adapt to the current mobile phones so it also boasts high production efficiency according to Biometric Update. “The patented transparent sensor tech is part of CrucialTec’s ongoing project to develop an in-display fingerprint module, called the display fingerprint solution, or DFS,” said by an official from CrucialTec.
The company just started 2012 and is now in the process of securing patents for other technologies like electrode materials, structures, the operation of algorithms and sensor. Although obtaining a patent doesn’t always convert into actual technology and products but it's different with the company. CrucialTec did everything they can to develop their technology and even featured their DFS in the Mobile World Congress this year.
It is expected that manufacturers from China will be the first to try the new technology. However, if the process and the implementation are successful, it wouldn’t be surprising if other tech giants will follow the trend. CrucialTec’s future looks very promising and Oppo, LC, and Huawei will be one of the first company to try their technology.
Huawei and Oppo are both founded by Chinese businessman with headquarters in China. LG, on the other hand, is owned by a Korean founder so its headquarters is located in Korea. They are the three android brands who will first try CrucialTec’s technology.
