CEO Lei Jun has officially announced that Xiaomi Mi 6 and Mi 6 Plus release date will be unveiled to the public on April 19 in Beijing at University of Technology Gymnasium. There are a lot of speculations, leaks, and unverified news regarding Xiaomi Mi 6 and Mi 6 Plus preceding its introduction date.
Xiaomi Mi 6 and Mi 6 Plus will be coming with codename 'Sagit' is said to run on Qualcomm's latest processor, the Snapdragon 835 coupled with Adreno 540. The Smartphones will feature 4GB of RAM alongside 64GB of internal storage, as reported by SlashGear.
It is also leaked that Xiaomi Mi 6 and Mi 6 Plus might measures a 5.1-inch FHD flat display with a 1080x1920p resolution for the former and Quad HD 2K OLED screen with dual curved edges and dual camera setup for the latter. Both Xiaomi Mi 6 and Mi 6 Plus will carry a 12-megapixel back camera with 4K video recording support and an 8-megapixel selfie cam enables to hold on a 4k recording as well.
Both Xiaomi Mi 6 and Mi 6 Plus are expected to be shipped with Qualcomm's Quick Charge 4.0 technology capable of fast charging support. The Xiaomi Mi 6 Plus might house a 4,000 mAh battery capacity.
Geekbench states that Xiaomi Mi 6 and Mi 6 Plus will have three variants, the 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage, the 6GB of RAM combined with 128GB inbuilt storage, and the last still remains a mystery. Devices will also work on Android 7.1.1 Nougat Operating System as well as the latest MIUI, the company's custom ROM.
The used of Snapdragon 835 shows that Xiaomi Mi 6 and Mi 6 Plus can become a good contender and are even considered as the Chinese version of the Samsung Galaxy S8. It should be noted, however, that due to the deal that Samsung made regarding Qualcomm's latest chipset, customers shouldn't expect Xiaomi Mi 6 and Mi 6 Plus to be released in the upcoming days.
This is also the main reason why up until now Xiaomi hasn't given any exact date regarding its new phones, Xiaomi Mi 6 and Mi 6 Plus. This case is similar to Sony Xperia XZ Premium that will also use Snapdragon 835 that won't be available at least until June the earliest.
According to NDTV, apart from the official announcement of the release date of Xiaomi Mi 6 and Mi 6 Plus, pricing details are also spotted on Chinese social media site (Weibo) that Mi 6 coming with 4GB /64GB will cost around CNY 2,199 (roughly Rs. 20,500) and the 4GB/128GB variant to be priced at CNY 2,599 (around Rs. 24,300).
The Mi 6 Plus will come with three variants with each model, 6GB/64GB, 6GB/128GB, and 6GB/256GB will cost around CNY 2,699 (roughly Rs. 25,000), CNY 3,099 (around Rs. 28,990), and CNY 3,699 (approximately Rs. 34,600), respectively. The Xiaomi Mi 6 and Mi 6 Plus pricing details above are slightly different with what the previous leaks said so buyers shouldn't take this information for granted, too.
